My Top 5 Best Authors for Young Adults

So as you guys may be aware, I am quite an avid reader. An unapologetic bookworm, as stated in my Instagram bio.  I have always loved reading books, learning new words and trying to use them in everyday conversation. I love seeing the world differently and from someone else's perspective, being transported into the protagonist's world whilst escaping reality for that little bit longer. So as I was thinking of what to write for this blog post, I thought why not make a list of who the Top 5 people who I think are the best authors for Young Adults (people in my age gap 16-21) for those of you, who like myself, share a love of reading, so enjoy!

5.  Robyn Schneider. Author of the books Beginning of Everything and  Extraordinary Means which I read this time a year ago. Her books are a joy to read, littered with a few pop culture references, making it all too easy to relate to. If you're a fan of romance novels, then these books are for you, though they are a tear jerker so have your tissues at the ready!

4. Rainbow Rowell. Author of the highly critically acclaimed 'Eleanor and Park' and 'Fangirl. Both of which I've read and thoroughly enjoyed. Whilst reading her books, I found myself so absorbed into the narrative because of her characters. They're fun, lovable and relatable characters who are figments of her imagination that make her books such a joy to read! I first heard about her when a friend of mine recommended Eleanor and Park, back in Secondary school. I loved it, I was hooked from the first page. When I was 16, I was given her new book at the time called Fangirl to read as a birthday gift..At first, I was a little unsure about it.. wondering if it was going to be better than Eleanor and Park but once I read it, I wasn't disappointed.. I loved it, just as much as I did Eleanor and Park!

3. Jo Nesbo, best known for being the author of the bestselling detective Harry Hole series, all of which I've read and loved! He writes with such an honesty and wittiness that tends to make even the hard hearted of people, fall in love with his characters! He's an incredible author and I love all of his books in the Harry Hole series, so much so that I wrote a book review about one of them for my first blog post, which can be found here. So seriously do check his stuff out if you are into crime novels, he won't disappoint!

2. Sabine Durrant. Author of the gripping thriller  'Lie With Me'. I recently stumbled across this gem of a book in my local library. I knew I'd love it as soon as I read the blurb on the inside sleeve of the book and I was right. I was hooked from the first page. It's an incredibly well written book, with plot intricacies that will blow your mind, so I urge you to get your hands on a copy and give it a read!!! This is the first novel I've read by Durrant, who is also a journalist. I fully intend to read a lot more of her books. If they're anything remotely close to being as good as 'Lie With Me', I know I won't be disappointed!

1. Sophie McKenzie. The bestselling author of books for young adults, evidently. I started getting into her books when I was about 14 or 15 and I have been a fan of hers ever since. Her books are gripping, filled with plot twists that leave you mind-blown. If I happen to read one of her books before I sleep, I know that I'll be reading her books well into the early hours of the next day because her books are that engrossing.  McKenzie writes in such a way that has you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what will happen next, which is why she comes in at No.1!
